Nissan Unveils a Dramatically Restyled Pathfinder

When Nissan released teaser images and video of the all-new 2013 Pathfinder, all we could tell for sure was that it would get a large moonroof along with some curvier lines. Needless to say, the team here at Vaden Nissan was excited for the 2012 North American International Auto Show where the concept would make its first debut. And, we have to say, Nissan did not disappoint us in the least.
What we knew before the show consisted mostly of what we could make out of the shadowy picture released by the automaker. Also they said they concept would feature "thoughtful technology, comfortable seating for seven, and ample cargo room."1 Considering the current model Pathfinder already features all of those things, we weren't really sure how Nissan planned to improve on it.
But, it was officially unveiled in Detroit last week, and here's what they did: they started by moving the Pathfinder onto a unibody platform, similar to the recently released CUV from their luxury arm, the JX. It also boasts four-wheel drive, a V6 engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and a very sleek body. Official numbers have yet to be released, but we also know that Nissan was aiming to achieve a 25-percent increase in fuel-economy, which they're likely to achieve with the smaller-displacement engine and CVT. Rumor has it the new engine will be very similar to the 3.5-liter V6 found in the Nissan Murano, which boasts an EPA-estimated 18/23 mpg city/highway.
You can expect more information about the new Pathfinder before it arrives at Vaden Nissan later in the fall. Questions about this or any other news and model updates from Nissan?
